It’s our goal at 365 is for you to never have to struggle too much to find something fun to do. Many of the things we feature are recurring weekly events, some are festivals that happen once a year over a stretch of days. Some are great ideas for kids, others are aimed at more grown-up fun. Some ideas are more universal and some are good for specific groups of people.

There seems to be an increasing number of events geared towards dating couples. We’ve featured a few “Cheap Date Nights” in past posts. Today, we feature yet another great idea to impress a date with a twist on the dinner-and-a-movie date formula. And you can do so in swanky, lavish style for 30 bucks, all-inclusive. Interested?

Fusion Restaurant Bar & Sushi in uptown provides the posh starting point for date night. For your $30, you get an appetizer, a bottle of wine, and a dessert at this stylish haunt located at Hennepin and Lagoon in the old Zeno space.

Then to finish the night, head across the street to the Uptown Theatre to see a movie. Featuring the finest in independent film and foreign language cinema, programming is usually limited to one or two week runs. Sometimes you’ll even be able to catch an underground film, cult favorite, or a vintage classic.

Considering a bottle of wine alone can cost $30 or more, I’d say this qualifies as a phenomenal deal.

Fusion & Uptown Theatre Date Night happens Tuesday nights. Call (612) 824-6300 for details about the event. Visit Uptown Theatre online or call (612) 825-6006 for details on films featured.

Enjoy casual chic Pan Asian, Sushi and American Contemporary cuisine in a fun, flirty, and romantic atmosphere and see a film that’s sure to provide plenty of stimulating conversation. You’ll be the hero, even though you spent so little.

If you’re lucky, maybe there will be a next date.
