Parade Route
The parade begins at the corner of State Street and West Main Street, follows Main Street to 5th Avenue, and finishes at South Street and Military Road. The route is approximately 1.5 miles, which makes it easy to pick a viewing spot and still explore downtown before or after.

What to Expect
This is small-town charm at its best, with marching bands, creative floats, and plenty of costumes. Anoka’s long Halloween history shows up in the energy of the crowd and the care that goes into the entries. It is a relaxed, family-friendly scene with great photo opportunities all along Main Street.

Tips for a Smooth Day

  • Arrive early for a front-row view along Main Street or near 5th Avenue.

  • Parade spot saving: spaces along Main Street and 5th Avenue may be reserved after 4:00 AM on parade day. Items placed earlier are removed by the city.

  • Dress in layers. Late October can be brisk, so bring hats, gloves, and a warm drink.

  • Bring chairs or a blanket if you plan to stay in one place.

  • Skip throwing items into the street. If you are with a group that hands out candy or trinkets, distribute from the curb to keep kids safe.

Parking and Facilities
Public parking is available around downtown, including lots near 2nd Avenue and Jackson, 5th Avenue and Van Buren, and 1st Avenue and Monroe. Accessible parking is available in designated spots. Portable restrooms are placed every few blocks along the route.

Make a Day of It
Before or after the parade, stroll Main Street, grab a bite from a local café, and pop into shops for seasonal finds. If you are visiting with kids, plan a quick warm-up break at a bakery or hot-chocolate stop between entries.

Why We Recommend It
Free, festive, and easy to attend, the Grande Day Parade is a signature Twin Cities fall outing. It delivers the nostalgic joy of a community parade with the added flair of Anoka’s century-old Halloween tradition. If you want a classic October afternoon, this is it.
