With a high today estimated at 38 degrees and a forecast of windy, today is the perfect date for the Lake Harriet Winter Kite Fest! The high cost of free covers your admission to see kites of all shapes, sizes and colors flying over Lake Harriet. The festival is taking place on the north side of Lake Harriet near the Bandshell.

You can bring your own kite, or buy an inexpensive one at the lake. There will also be ice fishing for kids with Tips Outdoors teaching kids ice fishing skills and safety tips. Equipment and permits for children will be provided.
Festival sponsors include the MPRB, Minnesota Kite Society, Tips Outdoors, East Harriet Farmstead Neighborhood Association (EHFNA), People for Parks, Linden Hills Neighborhood Council (LHiNC) and the Nicollet-East Harriet Business Association (NEHBA).
