With summer here, a lot of us are probably thinking of ways to attain or maintain that beach body.
It’s hard enough to eat right with all of the tantalizing restaurants in the Twin Cities without having to worry about burning off those calories besides. Well, more and more Twin Citians are finding that Pilates is a great way to stay toned and trim.
Align Pilates is a Pilates studio in Uptown Minneapolis that offers tons of options for the intermediate and advanced as well as the beginner. They offer two levels of Pilates mat classes. Mat 1 is for the beginner to intermediate Pilates student, and Mat 2 continues from the intermediate level and delves into advanced techniques as well. They offer the same basic options for Pilates Reformer classes.
Prefer to start slow with some stretching and balance exercises? No problem. Align Pilates also offers different levels of Yoga, from beginning to comprehensive.
Other classes offered include Kettlebell Fusion to promote strength and flexibility, Gyrokinesis, which combines movement principles of swimming, gymnastics, dance, and yoga, and Prana Stretch classes to help you breath, meditate and stretch. As you can see, there’s on option for almost every level of fitness, as each beginning class assumes you have no experience, but also offers intermediate to advanced levels of training.
A little concerned about looking like a newbie in front of your classmates? Again, no problem. Align offers individual instruction for many of its disciplines, in addition to classes, so you can take time and work at your own pace and your own level of comfort, but be prepared to pay premium prices for private sessions.
Is a nice relaxing massage more your speed? Align has you covered there too. With both Pranamassage and Thai Massage being offered at different session lengths, there’s certainly something to fit your needs. There are also packages available for an ongoing series of massage sessions.
Align Pilates offers training and certification opportunities for those who want to get more involved with this type of fitness and periodically host events, retreats and workshops for those who want to explore further.
Located at 3021 Holmes Ave. S. in Minneapolis (street level of the Solhem Building), Align Pilates is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
