I can’t lie. We love events that raise awareness or funds for worthy causes. We’ve mentioned benefit galas, 5k’s and bike races for charity in the past that supported such causes.
Coming this weekend, another event worthy of mention is coming to the Twin Cities. Be The One Run is a walk and run event for people of all ages and fitness levels. It includes a 5K, a 1K and a Tot Trot. Be The One Run unites communities nationwide determined to cure help patients with diseases like leukemia and lymphoma. These loved ones search for a marrow donor and hope for a transplant.
You have the power to heal and this event will allow you the opportunity to help.
Be The One Run starts Saturday morning, May 21 at Lake Harriet near the bandshell. Day-of packet pickup starts at 7:30am and the Tot Trot (10 and under) for the youngsters starts at 8:45. The 5K and 1K for both youth (17 and under) and adults begins at 9.
Register online to participate. Early packet pickup is Friday all day, from 8am to 7pm, at the headquarters of Be The Match/National Marrow Donor Program, 3001 Broadway St. N.E., 6th Floor in Minneapolis. Adult fees for both the 1K and 5K are $30 if pre-registered and $35 for walk-up registration. It’s a $15 registration fee for the youth 1K and $10 for the Tot Trot.
If for some reason, you can’t participate, there are other ways to help. You can donate or volunteer.
Here are some tips for fundraising.
