On June 11 and 12, Maple Grove will become the Canvas for World-Renowned Chalk Artists!! Both professionals and amateurs will gather on Main Street and The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes to compete and cover the streets in art!!

WHAT: Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes

The Arbor Lakes Business Association is proud to announce the first annual Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes, a free, 2-day street art festival with entertainment, food, and family fun! Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes will feature sidewalk chalk art by professionals, amateurs and art enthusiasts from across the world! More than twenty professional street artists will be travelling to Main Street Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove from around the country and as far away as Kiev, Ukraine and Milan, Italy to showcase their amazing talents! In addition to Main Street Arbor Lakes, the event will be located at the Fountains at Arbor Lakes and The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes. Chalkfest is also a people’s choice competition, in which artists will chalk Main Street competing with some of the best artists from around the world.

Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes, presented by Minneapolis NW Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, features fun for the entire family at the Family Zone located at The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes. Learn to create art with chalk from volunteers providing guidance and helpful tips to help you create your masterpiece. Plus get inspired by a full-lineup of local musicians and entertainers.

In addition, the public will get a chance to preview a 3-D pop-up mural at the Fountains at Arbor Lakes in mid-May. This mural will remain until after Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes. The week before Chalkfest, three artists will be working on murals as a preview of the quality of art to be showcased at the event.

The event will feature Minneapolis street painter and Minneapolis College of Art and Design Alum,
Shawn McCann and highly regarded street painters from around the US and Overseas. Two of the top
Internationally recognized Street Painters will be in attendance, Alex Maksiov from Kyiv, Ukraine and
Cuboliquido from Milan, Italy. Other notable street painting stars attending include Anat Ronen from Houston, Texas, and Joel Yau from California.

Chalkfest at Arbor Lakes is presented in partnership with the Maple Grove Arts Center, a non-profit community arts initiative serving the northwest suburbs of the Minneapolis metropolitan area. “Our mission is to create relationships among artists and share in a fun and unique experience within the community in which they live and work. Providing the artists with useful tools to grow their name, bring awareness of the visual arts, and promoting the Community’s unique art culture.” They also seek to educate the public and provide them with the quality art programming for their entertainment and enjoyment.
