Only the Black Forest Inn could turn a 50th Anniversary party into a 3 day extravaganza of beer, brats, music, games and a neighborhood parade.
For their 50th you have to come down on one of the 3 days of fun. Each day has unique activities, some meant for adults only (beer from Summit), but lots revolving around family entertainment.
In looking over their great pictures from the past 50 years, the biggest thing that stood out for me was the people in them. This is a family restaurant with long ties to their neighborhood and community.
For their 50th Anniversary, they couldn’t find a better way to celebrate, then to bring together everyone to help them.
So make sure to get there to help them celebrate!
50th Anniversary Party!
The Black Forest Inn is celebrating 50 years! Erich Christ first opened the doors on May 15, 1965 and still owns and operates the business with his wife Joanne Christ. This May, fifty years later, we will open our doors to the community for a big party! We hope everyone will join us May 15-17 for music, beer, movies and games in our restaurant, parking lot, and banquet space to celebrate 50 years of German food and life in this neighborhood. The party, music and movies will be free and open to the public.
The festivities will kick off with the magical, medieval sounds of the alphorn group, the Matterhorn Trio. We plan to toast the past, present, and future with a special beer from Summit (we were their very first Minneapolis customers!) and some special menu items that we’ve collaborated on with our neighbors on Eat Street and friends from the past. Our celebration of gratitude for 50 fabulous years continues Friday night with music from Patty and the Buttons in the parking lot and movies in our banquet space.
Saturday will be filled with games, music, performances, music, beer, bratwurst and a neighborhood parade. Join us for wandering accordionists in the restaurant and local bands including Spider John Koerner and the Southside Aces in the parking lot happening throughout the day. Festivities are scheduled from 11 am to 10 pm so stop by anytime and something will be going on!
Sunday is family day – movies for kids, games for kids, performances by and for kids. We’ll have fun music including a ukulele sing along followed by the Café Accordion Orchestra in the parking lot.
There’s even a hour for the dogs! The festivities wrap up by 8 pm. So come on down and help us ring in the next 50 years.
