In a winter that has been more like spring, the sudden snowfall has made many Twin Cities residents retreat to the warmth of the skyways. But if you are still longing for the outdoors, this weekend the skyways in the City Center of Minneapolis will be channeling a summer’s day with the 6th Annual Skyway Open.

18 holes of miniature golf will be laid out around City Center in downtown Minneapolis, safely inside of the skyway system. Each of the holes is uniquely designed by a local architect or contractor in a competition for a variety of design awards. Opening February 24th at 12:00 the course will be available for foursomes that have preregistered as well as limited walk up groups of fours.

On Saturday the 25th the course will be open for anyone wishing to play. Families are welcome to come to the Family Day activities, which are available from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Activities include games, free Candyland popcorn, cookie decorating from Wuollet Bakery, face painting and more. Kids will also be visited by mascots from some of their favorite local sports teams, including T.C. Bear and Viktor Viking. Families are welcome to participate in these events even if they do not participate in golfing, and are also welcome to walk the course.

The 6th Annual Skyway Open benefits local charity Boys and Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities. The Clubs’ mission is: to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The clubs provide a place for over 13,000 Twin Cities children ages 6- 18 to develop life and leadership skills.

February 24 12:00 to 9:00 pm ($140 per foursome- includes entry into 19th hole celebration.)
