It’s been a long winter, agreed? Students, don’t you think it’s about time to thaw out and have a little fun? Hibernation time is over! Time to get some sun on your face an enjoy yourself.

The U of M Spring Jam is coming this Thursday through Saturday, April 29th-30th to the Coffman Memorial Union and various locations throughout campus.

Thursday night kicks off at 6pm with a performance by Minnesota folk/bluegrass’s favorite sons, Trampled by Turtles at Animal Arena on the St. Paul campus.

Then Friday, things start to warm up at noon with a performance by local indie/punk hip hop phenom, P.O.S. at Coffman Memorial Union, followed by a barbecue and lawn games, complete with laser tag and sno cones. Grillin’ starts at 3pm and goes on while supplies last, so don’t lollygag if you want to get in on that action.

Stick around in the evening for the Ballyhoo Dance Competition and the ultimate sensory experience, MIst: A Spectrum of Color, followed by a Beatles tribute band accompanied by the film Across The Universe on the Coffman Front Plaza. Then from 10:30pm to 1am don’t miss “So You Think You Can Emcee,” a competition whose winner gets to host Saturday’s Battle of the Bands.

In addition to the Battle of the Bands, there will be performances Saturday afternoon from Caroline Smith & the Goodnight Sleeps, Solid Gold and Youtube and indie rock sensations OK Go.

This is a free event. For complete list of scheduled events, times and locations, visit springjam.umn.edu.
