Sometimes the key to beating the long winter blues is to just get outside and get some fresh air and physical activity. Speaking for myself, I can only stand being attached to my sofa for so long before I go a little crazy. Fortunately, there’s been plenty of outdoor activities (and even lots of fun indoor ones) this winter.

This Saturday, March 5th, you can add another one to the list. Get set for The Lake O’Dowd Winter 9 Hole Best Ball Golf Tournament. The Tournament will be held at Lake O’Dowd Park in Shakopee. The fun starts at 10am, but showing up at 9:30 to warm up and swing the clubs a bit is encouraged.

You have two options for a ball. Either a tennis ball or a racquetball must be used. As far as clubs, use your imagination. You can use a golf club, bat, hockey stick or any racket when striking their ball. You must hit your ball from the ground. No aerial throws or striking from somewhere other than on the ground.

Each team of 4 will proceed to best ball of their 4 shots and continue until ball lands in a pre-drilled hole. The team with lowest total strokes or hits at end of the round will be declared winner.

There is an entrance fee of $15 per golfer, or you can sponsor holes as well. All proceeds from the tournament will go to Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit organization that recruits volunteers to pack up food to send to kids in impoverished countries. They currently serve about 70 countries.
