Day 113: Lowertown Music Festival

Published on: 07/26/10 6:53 PM

Minneapolis band Cloud Cult playing at Lowertown Music Festival

If you don’t already have plans this weekend, keep your day open on Saturday. A handful of amazing local bands and one international artist will be taking the stage to rock you and entertain you at Mears Park in Lowertown St. Paul.

Mears Park, located at the corner of Sibley and E. 5th Street, is hosting the event, one of a number of outdoor concerts this summer.

The lineup for this show includes Cloud Cult, Mason Jennings, Tapes ‘N Tapes, Peter Wolf Crier, Frank Turner, and kiddie hip-hop duo Koo Koo Kanga Roo. I couldn’t, for the life of me, find anywhere online in what order the bands play, though. I’m not entirely convinced there even is a schedule. I checked the festival website and other blogs that posted this event. I got nothing.

I do know that the gates open at 2pm on Saturday July 31 and the music starts at 3. I’d think that since their act is aimed at the younger crowd, Koo Koo Kanga Roo would be starting things off, but that’s just an educated guess. From there, who knows? If you’re there, you’ll find out.

As far as parking, remember Lowertown is still basically downtown. Parking ramps are a bit cheaper on weekends usually, but it’s probably best to carpool or take public transit. Many bus routes stop right at Mears Park and a few run fairly late. The last band should wrap up around 10.

Tickets for the Lowertown Music Fest cost $25 and are available at the Electric Fetus, Station 4, and online through Ticketmaster.
